If any of you have seen Robocop, you’ll know that machines making decisions on issues of national security, assessing threat levels and making surgical like decisions with precision and efficiency are the way forward. Scrap that, why even stop at national security. Why not use them to stop petty crime too, bring down drug lords or even just crowd control.
Oh wait, that was just a Film or perhaps a case of Art imitating life or is this now life imitating art?
Whatever the case may be, disturbing developments mean that automated systems are now slowly replacing organic Law enforcement even to the extent of crowd control. In itself, this is eerie, surreal even; but what is alarming is its use of administering materials that are even illegal in a war zone.
